Police officers yesterday brought joy on the faces of both the babies and staff of Sanyu babies’ home when they visited, played with the babies and donated a number of items.

As one of the activities carried out to celebrate 100 years of the force’s existence, the police officers this time picked not their guns, but rather brooms and brushes to clean up the babies’ home.

Among the items which were donated and handed over to Ms Barbara Mutagubya, the director of Sanyu Babies’ home was diapers, washing detergent and food stuff.

Sanyu babies home which is located on Namirembe hill, Kampala has a capacity of 50 babies. The home currently has 48 babies aged between 0 to 3 years.

The police often rescue abandoned babies on the streets and bring them to (foster) homes.

Maj Chris Magezi, the spokesperson of the SFC, said security forces are determined to continue making a positive impact in the lives of civilians. ‘’we are glad to make a change within the community. We spare a moment to make a positive contribution in the lives of the people,’’ Maj Magezi said.
