On Saturday night, Health minister Dr.Ruth Aceng said in a press statement that a 36-year -old Ugandan male who arrived from Dubai, on Saturday, March 21, 2020, aboard Ethiopian Airlines at 2.00 am tested positive, hours after the President hosted religious leaders for a national prayer at State house Entebbe.

She said the victim is a resident of Kibuli Kangungulu zone in Kampala. The victim, according to Dr.Aceng presented no symptoms of the virus but had high fever which convinced the authorities to isolate him.

“The confirmed case presented with high fever and poor appetite. He is not coughing neither did he have flu. However, the persistent fever prompted the health workers to isolate him,” said Dr Aceng.

Meanwhile,President Yoweri Museveni suspended all travels in and out of the country:

“To prohibit all incoming passengers whether by air, water or road. In order to actualise this, we have decided to prohibit all passenger planes coming from outside Uganda from landing at any of the airports of Uganda. Only the cargo planes will be allowed to fly into and outside Uganda. Also to be allowed are planes on account of emergency or UN planes doing relief work.”

Because of this,Uganda joined 42 other African countries to have confirmed COVID-19 cases.
