World’s Second billionare – Gates to pay visit to watch Uganda’s Apes

News came to light recently in a Uganda daily – New Vision that Co-founder and current chairman of Microsoft, Bill Gates is set for another visit to Uganda between August 9 and 12.

Bill Gates also world renowned richest businessman will fly the country to track the endangered mountain gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

An advance team to prepare for the visit has already arrived in Kisoro district, southwestern Uganda where Gates and his wife, Mellinda Gates, are expected to launch their gorilla trekking expedition.

The 56-year-old entrepreneur was last in Uganda in 2004 for his first ever visit. Bill Gates visit follows not long after US Secretary of State-Hilary Clinton and former US President Bill Clinton also visited the Country.

The Pearl of Africa boasts of being home to almost half of the world’s population of mountain gorillas. There are about 300 mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Most well known for its population of the rare mountain gorilla, Uganda is also home to the highest mountain range in Africa (the Mountains of the Moon in the Rwenzori National Park), is the source of the Nile River and offers some of the best white water rafting in the world. With as many as 1,041 bird species in a diversity of habitats (that is half the total found in Africa), Uganda provides excellent birdwatching opportunities .
