57 year old actress Cissy Muwanga, commonly known as “Maama Nakka” is dead. Cissy Muwanga has been part of Uganda’s most famous drama group, The Ebonies since 1982. She starred in the popular TV show “That’s Life Mwattu” as “Maama Nakka” in the 90’s and as “Matron” in the late 90’s Bibawo.
Sam Bagenda “Dr Bbosa” of the same drama group reported, “She has been suffering mainly from a clot in her leg that had paralyzed her. We are yet to receive the postmortem report from IHK though.” He added that the actress passed on at around 3a.m this morning at International Hospital Kampala (IHK) where she has been hospitalized for the last four months. She has also been battling with high blood pressure and diabetes.
Cissy Muwanga’s vigil will be the National Theatre from 5:00pm today. A Church service will then be held on Wednesday 17th August 2011 at Rubaga cathedral, and burial will take place at 4pm in Lutengo, Kayunga, the same day.
