Chants, cheers and excitment fill the street of Kamwokya as National Unity Platform supporters celebrate over the ruling of Justice Musa Ssekaana that court decline any application since it was not brought under any known Court procedure. Ssekaana said that NUP is a legally registered political party.

It should be remembered that NUP formally known as National Unity Reconciliation and Development Party (NURP) was reconciled and its leadership was entrusted to Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu as the Party flag bearer who later on transformed the party to NUP.

Kyagulanyi was later sued in court by Moses Nkonge Kibalama, claiming that the party’s name was changed without the consent of the founders. however this case was dismissed by Justice Ssekaana on grounds that the petition was not brought under any known court procedure.

NUP supporters, filled with excitement rode along the streets of Kampala together with their party candidate, escorted by police to Bulange Mengo where Kyagulanyi was meant to meet the Katikiro of Buganda. However Police intercepted with teargas to disperse the crowd.
