PRESIDENT MUSEVENI SET TO VISIT RWANDA AFTER 5 YEARS
President Museveni is expected in Rwanda’s capital, Kigali, where he will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2022.
The international event takes place from 20-25 June 2022, under the theme “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming”.

The meeting was postponed in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

ChimpReports understands that an elite special forces team flew to Kigali last week to prepare for Museveni’s arrival.

Museveni last visited Rwanda over five years ago.

Uganda’s relations with Rwanda have improved in recent months due to the mediation of Land Forces commander, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Commonwealth leaders will travel to Rwanda to reaffirm their common values and agree actions and policies to improve the lives of all their citizens.
Some of the leaders expected at the event include Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau; and UK’s Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen.

Decisions taken at CHOGM also guide the work programme of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
This is the sixth time the event has been hosted by an African country. Uganda hosted CHOGM in 2007.
The week-long summit is expected to attract over 5,000 participants from government, business, and civil society under the theme ‘Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming’.
Meetings begin in the Rwandan capital on Sunday 19 June with four forums – covering youth, women, business and civil society – culminating with the official Retreat for leaders at the Intare Conference Arena on Saturday 25 June.
