Dr. Kizza Besigye and other detained persons through their lawyers of AF Mpanga and Company Advocates and Lukwago and Company advocates filed a petition seeking their immediate release from what they call illegal detention for more than 48hours without being formally charged in court.

Court had earlier on this afternoon issued summons requiring Nagalama DPC Jessica Naawe and OC CID Labu to appear to explain why they detained FDC officials for more than 48hours.

However the police officers refused to turn up in Court which prompted the trial magistrate to hear the matter ex-party.
