Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura called for innovation from the 300 newly decorated Police Officers.
These officers were recently promoted as part of the centenary celebrations to mark 100 year of the Uganda Police force.
The IGP called upon the officers to be innovative in their new roles and responsibilities especially in promoting community policing.
Speaking on behalf of the IGP, the Deputy Inspector General of Police warned the promoted officers that the new rank comes with new responsibilities and much is expected from them by their seniors and the community at large.
He further asked them to be innovative in addition to their official remuneration so as to improve on their welfare and the welfare of the people they command.
“ I do not mean indulging yourselves in corrupt practices but leaving to some additional small income generating projects like poultry, petty trade through your spouses,” the Deputy IGP said.
