Uganda and Armenia have established diplomatic relations to promote mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation within multilateral frameworks.

A Joint Communiqué to that effect was signed by Uganda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Richard Nduhuura, and his Armenian counterpart Ambassador Garen Nazarian on June 28, 2013 in New York.

The two Permanent Representatives noted that areas of mutual interest included renewable energy, trade, tourism, and sharing of experiences on how to enhance the participation of the respective countries’ diaspora in national development. Armenia has a land area of 24,743 sq km, a GDP of about US $10 billion, and a population of 3.5 million people living in the country while 7 million Armenians live and work in the diaspora.
