UPDF Officers Demonstrate Skills Acquired In Intense Training

The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) officers have demonstrated some of the skills acquired during the nine months intense training at Kaweweta Recruits Training School in Nakaseke district.

President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday passed out over 2,900 new UPDF officers who have been undergoing a nine months basic infantry course at Kaweweta Recruits Training School in Kinyogoga Sub-County, Ngoma County in Nakaseke district.

After inspecting the parade, the new officers displayed of the self defense acquired from the training.

Museveni congratulated them upon successfully completing their course which he described as a tough one that is not only beneficial to the country but also to the individual.
“Military training is not easy. It is tough but builds your stamina, body and character,” he said.

The President further commended the graduands for volunteering to join the forces sayingthe army now needs educated officers.
Museveni who is also the Commander in Chief of the Uganda Armed Forces emphasized that the mission of the army is to guard nationalism in Uganda, promote Pan Africanism, support socio-economic transformation as well as democratic institutions in the country.

He further commended the army leadership, the commandant of the school as well as instructors for emphasizing political education and discipline in the army adding that the move distinguishes UPDF from the colonial armies and their off springs.

“This emphasis you have done, of political education and discipline is very welcome and I want to thank you very much for that,” Museveni said.

He thanked the army leadership for listening to his advice of preparing the training ground and providing realistic training to the recruits.
